What is a server backup ? #
A server back is a copy of your server as it is, at the time the backup is taken. It is useful to have in case you experience data loss. Without a backup, if data loss occurs, your files will be lost.
Do you backup my server ? #
Cloudfanatic does not backup your server by default. All clients are responsible for backing up their own files. Cloudfanatic only backs up services which have the backup addon purchased for them.
How do I purchase backup addon for my service ? #
In your dashboard, click on instance you wish to purchase backup addon for -> click VPS Addons link.
How often is my server backed up ? #
Our system will automatically backup your server once a week and will only keep the last one copy of you backup.
Does my server remain online while it is being backed up ? #
Yes it does, your server does not go offline during backup times.
Do I have access to the backup ? #
You do not have access to the backup. The nature of disaster backups is that customers do not get access to them. This removes the possibility of customers damaging to deleting the backups.
How do I restore a backup ? #
As explained above since you do not have access to the backup, you can not restore it yourself. However if required, we can restore your latest backup for you free of charge. You can request a restoration via helpdesk ticket.
Do you keep a backup of my server even if server is canceled ? #
Once a server is canceled/terminated for whatever reason, the associated backup is also deleted.
